Visitors + Economy
How the LVEP works with DMOs and authorities
The establishment of the Suffolk and Norfolk Local Visitor Economy Partnership takes us into a new era for the overview and management of the visitor economy in Norfolk and Suffolk. There is an LVEP Board, underneath which are sub-groups representing the main stakeholders.
Its remit is to work in partnership, with public and private sector stakeholders, to grow the visitor economy in Suffolk and Norfolk.
It will do this by spreading demand, seasonally and geographically, and developing a year-round sector that ultimately increases employment and wealth.
Stakeholders and sub-groups
LVEP Board
The Suffolk and Norfolk Local Visitor Economy Partnership Board functions as the official LVEP and performs the management oversight and advisory function.
The LVEP board’s work is underpinned by the Destination Management Plan.
DMP/Operational Group
The DMP/Operational Group has oversight of the Destination Management Plan and the work of four sub-groups. The members are the chairs of the sub-groups and also take a seat on the LVEP board.
Local authority sub-group
This sub-group is made up of representatives of district and county councils and meets to discuss how local authorities and the LVEP can work together.
DMO sub-group
This sub-group is made up of representatives of local Destination Management Organisations. The DMOs are a range of private sector businesses and those that sit within Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and local authorities.
They are:

Skills and Business Engagement sub-group
This sub-group was established pre-LVEP as a means to promote the visitor economy as a good career option and to help change the narrative that the sector is ‘seasonal, low skilled and low paid’.
Regenerative Tourism sub-group
This sub-group is made up of businesses and stakeholders in the Brecks with an ambition for the Brecks to become the UK’s first Regenerative Tourism National Character Area.
The LVEP has put seed investment into the project to develop best practices and learnings that can later be spread out across Suffolk and Norfolk.
